DL3 Overview
Data Collection
The Compuspec DL3 data logger is designed to capture serial data from a PABX and store the information in non-volatile memory for transmission to a central system at a later time.
Data Transmission
The DL3 uses the internet as the transmission path for communications with a central system. The DL3 connects to a local ISP with an internal PCMCIA modem, then using a proprietary protocol it contacts the central system and transfers its data.
Transmission Security
Security protocols are in place between the DL3 and the central system. This removes the possibility of the DL3 sending its data to a spoofed site as well as stopping the host from receiving information from a non-registered source. These measures are necessary in the public environment of the internet to stop any accidental and/or intentional monitoring of data.
Configuration
The firmware of the DL3 can be updated either locally using the command port or remotely during a session with the central system. Only a fully verified update will cause the DL3 to reprogram its processor firmware.

DL3 Features
Two independant serial ports
Two RS232 ports that can be used as input/output or both.
Command Port
Command port used for local configuration and testing.
Compact Flash Memory
Data is stored locally on an industry standard Compact Flash card. Memory sizes available from 8MB to 240MB
Secure Transmission
The DL3 uses the CHAP protocol for password verification. Before any data transfer can begin, both DL3 and host must verify the remote end passwords.
Remotely Configurable
The DL3 is configurable from the central system along with the ability of updating firmware during a session.
Backup Battery
Contains a backup battery capable of power the unit for up to 20 minutes. The DL3 will continue to log calls while running on backup power.
Software Alarm Triggers
The DL3 can be configured with alarm triggers to download data based on usage, time, volume and "string".
Low Maintenance Costs
No need for on-site technicians to maintain the PABX/PC data connection.
Online Call Detail Presentation
Value added services could be offered to provide your customers with online call detail and cost centre management.
Enhanced Call Analysis
PABX data recording allows for more detailed call analysis than can be provided by the switch (eg. calls recorded displaying the extension data).
Low Cost Data Transmission
The call to transfer the data is at the cost of a local phone call to the local ISP.
